GM Gelashvili Tops Open Section
In 1st Dr. Ostfeld Memorial Tournament of year

In the traditional open section in our first Dr. Ostfeld tournament of the year GM Tamaz Gelashvili topped the other 38 competitors to capture the 300 dollar prize all by himself. Three other competitors: namely, Alexander Crump, Praveen Balakrishnan, and Boris Privman all scored three and a half points (Privman snuck away with a half point bye and didn’t play the last round) and tied for 2nd- 4th place taking home 184 dollars each (including Top U2200 prize).

Next down the list was Gregory Nolan who won 75 dollars for his three points and best results of a player over the age of 55.

Aharon Shlionsky won 100 dollars for the best result of a player rated under 2000 beating a somewhat rusty, yet still highly regarded Alex Katz.
