When I first walked into the Hilton, 20 minutes before round one, my first reaction was one of being impressed by the mass of Chess players assembled for the event.  My second reaction was one of surprise that the first 2 players I saw were my teammates, Genry and Madam Captain Ivette.  I know it was a good omen for the team.  But I never thought we would win the under 1900 section.
It was a great team to be on.  Not only for winning but a great group to be with for the three day event.   Everyone played a key role in our win.  David took the heat of board one and closed out the win in the final round.  Madam Captain provided great direction and leadership for the team, along with key wins.  Genry kept everyone at the correct spot with his fast text messages about where to go along with the ratings of our opponents.  He also provided a great win in the final round.  It was like a homework problem on Queening combinations.  How fitting it was to have it come from Mister Homework problems Genry.  So Kids, do your homework!!    Sid did a great job as the alternate with key early wins on Saturday keeping us in the running.  Without Sid’s fine play we would not have been in a position to win at the end.  I provided a needed upset win in the last round playing a 300-point higher rated player.

Winning teams are made up of winning group efforts.  It was great to be a part of this winning team and to play a part in our winning effort.
