2015 Fall Ostfeld Memorial Scholastic Competition Results

Fall Ostfeld Memorial Scholastic Competition Results; ICA Campers Win three out of five sections.

 

As usual we had five sections contested in the Fall Ostfeld Memorial Scholastic competition at the Bergen Academies in Hackensack, New Jersey.

Section 1

ICA Camper Yishai Forst was the clear winner in section one winning all four of his games and putting an exclamation point on the victory by winning against the 3rd, and 2nd place finishers in the final two rounds.  Speaking of which the second place finisher was Aneesh Iyer who won three games and only lost to Yishai, while the third place finisher was Choco Chen who also won three games and only lost to Yishai.

Sean Mclaughlin, and Victoria Kerimov also got three out of four points and tied for the spot at the top of the podium.

Seventeen kids competed in section one.

Section 2

The section two winner was one half of the Landa duo (brother Ezra played in section one) ICA Camper Jacob Landa who won all four games to gain a perfect first place.  Jordan Sang was second by virtue of three wins and a draw in his third round game, while Kavin Umansankar, and Ethan Lilley scored three points each and tied for third place.

Nineteen kids competed in section two.

Section 3

Sebastien Meesin was winner with a perfect four point score, while ICA camper Andrew Sung, Akshat Iyer, and Griffin Brawer all scored three and a half points and tied for second place. 

Forty kids competed in section three.

Section 4

The section four winner was ICA camper Jane Stripunsky (whose dad and ICA coach GM Alex Stripunsky won the open section) who scored four out of four wins to claim the title.  ICA student Sam Anchipolovsky was the second place winner with three-and-a-half points, while ICA campers Austin Chen, and Bryan Ding scored three points each and tied for third.

Sixteen players competed in section four.

Section 5

The “Monarch” of section five was Jason King who scored a perfect four out of four points to win and beat the 2nd,3rd,4th, and 5th place finishers in the four individual games.  Kenneth Telebrico was the second place finisher and got three wins losing only to Jason in the first round, while Jarod Bernard, and Ethan Chan both got two-and-a-half points each and tied for third place.

Twelve players competed in section five.

The next Ostfeld Memorial scholastic tournament is scheduled for November 15th so we hope to see everyone there.
