ICA 20th Anniversary Fair Lawn Scholastic Summer Camp Week 2

ICA 20th Anniversary
Fair Lawn Scholastic Summer Camp Week 2 Report:

During the second week of our camp we changed the venue for outdoor activities.  The morning exercise, and daily sports program is now at a new location which is a large school park by the Fair Lawn middle school where you can play both dodgeball and soccer as well as basketball.

This week\'s tournaments were held in three sections. The first section - the Master Camp tournament – was won by Justin.

Section 2 pitted members of the Master Camp against members of the Day Camp and the Master Camp Students confirmed their stronger status as Eric won the tournament and Malina took second place.

Section 3 was won by Alex.

Apparently, the best prepared for any future chess battles was Stefan as it was he who won the Best Student prize in the beginners group, led by Alessandro.

The best in Ethan’s / Solomon’s group became Alexandra, while in Tanya’s group it was Jessica, with the Master Camp winner being her brother Justin.

The fastest chess player became Master Camp student Nikita, who won the blitz tournament.

In the Problem Solving Competition the winners were Jessica (rated) and Stefan (unrated).

Jinu not only won the Unrated Section in the Survival in a Simul Competition, but was also able to hand the coach giving the simul, the only defeat this week.  The Best Rated Section simul player was Anton.

Despite the small number of participants in the Homework Contest, there was a bitter struggle for first place between Jane and Jessica.  In the end, Jane was a little more precise and and pulled out a victory in this contest.

In the traditional Friday Team Blitz & BugHouse Tournament we failed to identify a first place winner and the top spot was taken by two teams: Team Matthew (coach David, Ron, Jinu) and team Sophie (Jessica, Jane, Alexandra).

The Best in the Sports Groups were:

Master Camp - Sid,

2008 & younger - Anton,

2006 - 2007 - Ron,

2004 - 2005 - Alex.

The dodgeball winner was Jessica.

The strongest Relay Race team was the “SOLOMONsters, and as you might guess they accomplished said victory under the leadership of coach Solomon (Sebastian, Alexandra, Jinu).

The Healthy Lunch Contest was won by Alex, and the Art Competition by Jessica.

We wish you all happy holidays and look forward to seeing more of our students in the coming weeks!
