ICA Coach GM Stripunsky Wins Fall Ostfeld Memorial Open Section! Eddy Tian Wins “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire Tournament Entry!”
If the Campers are happy their coaches from the camp should be equally so and GM Stripunsky’s victory here proves no exception. Having coached the Master, and Grandmaster levels of our Summer Camp Alex came prepared to set an example for his students and won all of his games and the three hundred dollars awarded for said task.
Mauricio Camejo, and GM Alex Fishbein tied their last round game and each received $184 dollars for joint 2nd,3rd, and best u2200 (Camejo) results since both ended up with three and a half out of four points. Joining them at the top was Gregory Nolan who also got the same amount of money for his three and a half.
Perhaps the happiest player of all was Eddy Tian who won the coveted free entry into GM Maurice Ashley’s “Millionaire Chess” Tournament in Atlantic City. The value of said entry is around $600 dollars at this point and Eddy as the highest finisher under 2000 with the best results (three wins and one bye) punches his ticket to the competition.
Three players: Gregory Markzon, Yefim Treger, and Boris Privman all scored three points and shared twenty-five dollars a pop as the best players over the age of 55.
Vikas Rama scored 100 dollars for the best result of a player rated u1800 for his three points.
Eric Li, and Merric Hu each got 87.50 for their three wins and best results of players under 2000, as well as the age of 13.
Finally, Mythreya Dharani, Alessandro Demarchi-Blumstein, John Lekocevic, William Guskind, and Malina Pavlova all got twenty dollars for their lone single point and the best results of players rated u1600.
Fifty-two players competed in the Fall Ostfeld Memorial Open section.
