Yet More “Happy” Campers: ICA students From our Summer Camp Continue Success In Fall Ostfeld Memorial Scholastic Championships!
Shameless promotion requires us to let everyone know about how well our Summer “Camp”ers did at the Scholastic version of the Fall Ostfeld Memorial Tournament at Bergen Academies. Hopefully these results convince everyone to continue signing up for our camps the next of which is scheduled for Christmas Break in December of 2016!
Section 1
Stefan Karpenko who attended our Fair Lawn camp dominated the unusually small field in the unrated section one (k-2 grade). Stefan won all four of his games including his third round game against second place finisher, and his Wednesday night classmate, Alexander Shlionsky. Alexander won his other three games to take the silver medal.
Only eight players competed in this section.
Section 2
All the way from Canada, and attending our camp for five weeks this Summer, Moshe Trapedo won all four games to take first place in section two. The second place finisher was camp-goer Alexander Vern, who won three-and-a-half games (after a stalemate mistake) to claim silver medal honors. Leya Rubenchik, camper Danny Paley, camper Sophie Gutter, and Arnav Mohan all scored three points to tie for joint third place.
Twenty players competed in section two.
Section 3
Akiva Shlionsky, two year veteran of the ICA program, and Oliver Hua shared first place in section three with perfect scores of four points from both players. Rylan Contos, Jacob Feit, camper Leon Berenfeld, Mathias Nguyen-Van-Duong, Timothy Xie, Joey Grossman, Sriman Goli, and Mason Koppel tied for third place with three points per each player.
Thirty Eight players competed in section three.
Section 4
Sebastian Meesin was the winner in section four with a perfect score, with Dhriti Iyer closed behind in second place with three-and-a-half points. Campers Alexander Wang, and Ron Baver each scored three points to tie for third place.
Twenty-one players competed in section four.
Section 5
A long time ago, in a galaxy far away Lachlan Witt came to our camp, and so it was that only because of this (in no way did his own skill or ability play a role in his victory. Haha Just kidding Lachlan!) did he win first place in section five with three and a half points. Lucas Rendina, and Bryan Jiang scored three each and tied for second place.
Twelve players competed in section five.
Our next Ostfeld Tournament will be on November 6th! Please join us for that pre-Thanksgiving day special!
