Week 2 Glen Rock report

At Week 2, the load on the "production capacity" of the ICA location in Glen Rock increased significantly. Immediately three camps - GM, Master and Day Camp - hospitably welcomed the students into their classes

During the week, all the students had many opportunities to express themselves and earn a deserved prize in a contest. This includes numerous chess nominations, and various kinds of sports competitions, as well as scientific and creative prizes for Art and Math. And - cherry on the cake - culinary and parental contest Healthy Lunch.

Tournaments this week were held in five groups.

The winner of the group GM Camp was Aryeh Leib. Bryan won Master Camp Section.

In Day Camp:

Section 1, Angelina and Udbhav shared the first place, in Section 2 the victory was celebrated by Andrew L., and in Section 3 the strongest was Justin G.

Traditionally, the Master and Day Camps awarded the best students in the training groups.

This week there were 5 groups: one in the Master and four in the Day Camp.

And the winners were:

Chris\`s Group - Andrew L.

Richard\`s Group - Justin S.

Alessandro\`s Group - Royina.

Having finished their tournament games, the students had the opportunity to choose a lesson to their liking: play in a simultaneous game against the coach, solve chess problems or tackle Art and Math. All the mentioned activities were very much in demand. Therefore, for example, in both chess competitions (Simul and Problem Solving) the competition in the struggle for victory was very acute.

As a result, Udbhav managed to collect a one and a half points (victory and draw) in sessions with coaches during the week, and Alexander managed to take half the point from the session (in one of the games he was very close to victory, but loss of concentration for a minute did not allow him to finish successfully). Both Udbhav, and Alexander, who purposefully fought in sessions with coaches throughout the week, deservedly received their prizes in this nomination (Simul) in the Open Section.

There was a lot of work among the participants of the Problem Solving Competition. And the winners of this competition were Andrew L. (Open) and Tommy (Unrated).

It was also not boring during our traditional sports competitions held in the park closest to the camp. The boys and girls had the opportunity to excel in competitions in their age groups, and in Dodgeball and Soccer.

Age Group 2008 - 2009 - Alexander

Age Group 2010 - Royina

Dodgeball this week was so popular that there was no one to play Soccer, so this nomination could not be played.

But in Dodgeball was a stubborn fight in every match, and the judges had a hard time. It is all the more surprising that the winner in the Boys nomination was already known on Thursday - Udbhav\`s break from the nearest pursuers made his victory a matter of simple technique.

In the Girls nomination, the fight was more exciting, but the first Friday match determined the strongest - Angelina

However, the identification of the winners did not cool the ardor of players in Dodgeball, and all the remaining matches - literally before the final whistle - also passed in an uncompromising fight.

Traditionally, two team competitions are held on Friday: chess and sports.

In sports - Relay Race - the victory was celebrated by the team of Fire Stars consisting of: Alexander (c), Shuban, Jesse, Shivani. And chess - Blitz & BugHouse Tournament - won Udbhav (c), Stefan, Jesse and Justin G.

Our traditional Healthy Lunch contest could be called ‘unannounced inspection’ on Friday. The fact is that we usually hold it on Thursdays and warn the potential participants in advance, so once a week many come prepared. But this time it was not so: we without warning judged the lunches brought by the students on same day. And in these difficult conditions for contestants, Valerie won.

The best mathematician was Shivani.

Even though there were a lot of nominations, and practically every participant of Day Camp managed to win this or that prize, it should be noted that some of the awards did not find their owners: Soccer Prize, Survival in a Simul Prize (Unrated Section), and Home Work Prize (in both sections).

We hope that in the next weeks the students will be able to consider the shortcomings in the prize hunt and master all the possible nominations.
