Week 3 Glen Rock/Teaneck Scholastic Chess Camp Report: Teaneck comes to Glen Rock
For week three since we did not have enough campers at our Teaneck location we commuted them to Glen Rock (parents word of mouth has always been our best advertisement so if you know anyone in the Teaneck area who may be interested definitely let them know about our camp so we can keep both locations open!).
Our winners in the tournaments were Jonathan Zeng in section two, Kevin Wei in section three, and Valerie Belkovsky in section four.
The best students were Jonathan Zeng, and Angelina Li in Tanya’s group, Kevin Wei in Slava’s group, Valerie Belkovsky and Gino Lee in Ivette’s group, and Royina in Alessandro’s group.
Jonathan Zeng was also the winner in rated problem solving, while Valerie won for unrated problem solving. The simul winners were Moshe in the rated group, and Kevin in the unrated/u400 group. Jonathan Zeng also won the homework prize.
On Friday due to rain we could not go outside to do relay races so instead we had “Rainy day” blitz which was won by Felix Dyadyuk in the rated group, and Robert Yi in the unrated/u400 group.
In the sports groups the best from youngest to oldest groups were: Jesse Perchuk, Kevin Wei, Isak Dubrow, and Jonathan Zeng.
Kevin Wei was the winner for Soccer, while for Dodgeball the traditional dodgeball veteran Isak Dubrow won for boys, and Valerie Belkovsky won for the girls.
The trivia winners were Gino Lee, Jesse Perchuk, and Joseph Kouperschmidt. Robert Yi was the music winner, while Royina, and Gino were Zoya’s pick for math. The healthy lunch winner was Jonathan Zeng.
In the mixed scholastic/master camp bughouse tournament the winners were the “Pink Fluffy Unicorns” who were captained by Grant Goldman, whose teammates were Bryan Jiang, Moshe Trapedo, and Andrew Li.
We also congratulated our two twin brothers, Shuban, and Udbhav Devarakonda with their birthday.
