Summer Camp 2017: Week 7 Glen Rock

Scholastic Chess Camp Week #7 Glen Rock Report:

The reporting week at Day Camp was held under the sign of Valerie, which managed to collect a large assortment of prizes in a variety of categories. Such luck did not go unnoticed by camp mates. Andrew, Anthony and Angelina, correctly calculated all ‘variations’, and called their Relay Race Team Valerie-Hunter ... There was nothing surprising in the fact that this team that won the Relay Race Competition.

So, Valerie won in 4 (!) nominations this week:

1) first place in the Section 4 tournament

2) first place in Rainy Day Blitz (ahead of many strong players)

3) Best Student in Chris\'s Group

4) Dodge Ball prize (girls)

Only one ‘step’ behind Valerie were Andrew, Angelina, Avital, Anthony and Sudisha (each won in three nominations).

Andrew: Section 3, Homework Prize, Relay Race

Angelina: Problem Solving, 2nd place in Rainy Day Blitz, Relay Race

Avital: 2nd place Section 3, Homework Prize (u600), Best Student in Richard’s group

Despite the very successful performance of Valerie, there was a MASTER in the Master Camp, who surpass her achievement: "admirable" Sam managed to make a penta-trick. He won:

1)     first place in the Master Camp Tournament

2)     Best Student in Chess Group (Coach Sergey)

3)     won the Master Camp Blitz Tournament

4)     excelled at the Sports Groups Competition (2005-2006)

5)     and won the Rainy-Day Team Blitz (Master Camp).

Sam’s predetermined high rate was not under the force of his competitors. But since in our Summer Camp students have many opportunities to express themselves, many of them also managed to excel:

Jonathan P won Sport (age 2007) and Team Blitz (GM/Master)

Jessica won Rainy-Day Team Blitz (Master Camp).

Spencer won Best Student (GM Mac’s group)

Jane: 2nd place Master Camp Tournament

Alex B: Soccer (best player)

Michael D: Sport (age 2005 & older)

In GM Camp, Aryeh Leib scored a double by winning GM Camp Tournament and Team Blitz (GM/Master). Ryan won Best Student (GM Alex group)
