Report on WEEK 2 - Glen Rock
The ICA Summer Camp expands its geography and significantly increases its size: in addition to Teaneck location, Glen Rock location has opened its doors for Summer Camp 2019, where Master Camp and GM Camp opened along with Day Camp.
As in previous years, ICA Camp challenges our campers to test themselves as chess players, athletes, musicians, mathematicians and artists!
ICA always provides lots of prizes for all our nominations! We are truly satisfied to see our Campers leaving camp on Friday fully accomplished in chess and sport achievements as well as loaded with prizes and trophies. This second week, our student MATHIAS became an absolute champion winning six awards!
In order to perform well in chess, it is not enough just to play - it is essential to study theory, to learn tactics and strategic methods. ICA forms chess groups in accordance with our camper’s chess level. WEEK 2 got eight groups of students including:

It is a known fact - theory must be backed up with intense practice. And chess classes allow players to concrete on their results during tournaments. Although, not all participants in training groups managed to prove their chess strength this time, we always encourage our students to continue with practice - the key to success!!
Congratulations to our winners:
Section 1 (GM Camp) - JED
Section 2 (Master Camp) - VEDANTA
Section 5 - JONATHAN, NATE, SEAN V
Problem Solving Competition is not only about intellectual challenge, but also about hard work. Majority of our campers in first two days were super enthusiastic. Unfortunately, by Wednesday, when there were clear leaders in each of the groups, most of the applicants' enthusiasm dried up, and the number of solvers noticeably decreased. But there was one person who demonstrated a selfless love for solving chess positions. More precisely, there were two of them, since the second one, at least in the last couple of days, simply enjoyed this activity, because, even securing first place, he continued to do what he loved. The boys worked in a team, and it was a wonderful creative union of young chess researchers. At the end Mathias received the first place (Group A), and Stefan creative pleasure and not only useful, but also a pleasant time spent at chess
JONATHAN and AARYAV became winners in Group B
And SAMUEL, our newcomer, who just recently started to play chess won in Group C! Well done, SAM, this is a great achievement!
Congratulations to two brothers - ANDERSON (Group A) and AJ (Group B) - our winners in Simul Survival Competition! What a strong family!
Congratulations to our youngest camper of Master Camp - SEANN, who won the Master Camp Blitz Tournament!! And GREGORY - who won Day Camp Blitz after spending just two days at the camp.
In joyous and noisy Blitz & Bughouse Tournaments, the most successful were the teams Morgan & Grant (GM Camp) and united solvers enthusiasts Mathias & Stefan (Master / Day Camp).
Unfortunately, our Prize for the Homework nomination remained unclaimed this week - no student wanted to do chess at home. But ICA is very happy with that!! Now, we are sure our days are filled with enough chess games and no one is left behind!
But that is not all! ICA Camps are known for its popular among campers sport activities and excellent art, music and math programs.
