Report on WEEK 4 Teaneck |
||||||
ICA Chess Summer Camps are truly family-oriented places, and we are happy to have so many siblings - we had 27 young campers on WEEK 4 in Teaneck location, 10 of which are siblings! Our young campers were placed into groups according to chess level in order to concentrate on specific skills appropriate for their experience. We had SEVEN groups and our coaches would like to congratulate our BEST STUDENTS of WEEK 4! THOMAS WEICHSEL and ALEX XU - Coach Ivette ANNABELLE VOLYNSKY - Coach Nikita ARIEL ROZENBAUM - Coach Sophie All 8 students got special prizes and a couple of them also managed to win tournaments: WELL DONE, guys! We had an academically productive week with new techniques being taught, such as the London System, which is one of Magnus Carlsen’s favorites! This week our coach Robert established a very special prize for any student who could checkmate him. The winner would get 5 dollars in cash! Luck was on Robert’s side as he managed to beat all challengers, and he will generously double the prize for WEEK 5. We cannot wait to see who is going to get it! WEEK 4 was exciting with many athletic events like soccer, dodgeball, and relay races despite the hot weather. ICA loves to see kids leaving the camp with happy smiles and guaranties that each camper would get at least one prize by the end of the week if they tried all week! Before we announce our winners in sports and other activities, we would like to wish HAPPY BIRTHDAY to VLADIMIR KOVALEVSKY! Thank you for the cupcakes, VLADIMIR! Now, congratulations to: YONATAN ROZENBAUM - soccer winner, CHARLES JINN - our dodgeball champ, and for relay races - JACOB and ANNABELLE VOLYNSKY, ALEX LI, RAYMOND WANG, and ALEC GELFAND! Noteworthy to mention the crazy team name which Captain JACOB came up with: “sirmrseriouslyamazinglykingprincesirmrsir”! Our congratulations to REMLEY BRUMLEY, ARIEL ROZENBAUM, and ANGELICA ALUMMOOTIL on their amazing artistic works, and we hope that they will use the awards that they received for their future art works. Also, we would like to point out a good start for REMLEY BRUMLEY, who just started to play chess this week! Congratulations to RAYMOND WANG, who won in the Simul Survival Competition and also in Blitz-bughouse, where the winners were RAYMOND and ALEX XU (rated section) as well as YONATAN ROZENBAUM and KENZ RAZA (unrated section)! And OUR BEST STUDENTS in:
