January 9^th, 2021 Quads Report

Passion for chess has not slowed down in the new year! Our quad competitions continue to grow week by week. This event drew 48 players and twelve total sections! We also had a few new faces amongst the competitors. Here are the highlights and results from this week's event!

 

Firstly, welcome to our new players Adrian, Charles, Chideha, and Hyland!

 

In Section 1 Michael, our highest rated player took the section down with a perfect record! This is certainly not his first time playing against the toughest competition, yet he continues to put up a very consistent performance! Well played Michael!

In Section 2 Goktug and Xuan tied for first with 2.5 points out of 3! Their only draw was against each other! Goktug, who had not played since quads with us since our very first event, came back with a statement victory! Xuan also only plays occasionally but certainly rises to the challenge when he does! Well done to both players. This section also holds this event's game of the week! In this game you can see when the section's top players battled each other down to a draw. Section 3 watched Albert continue his dominating streak. With this perfect score victory taking him to a five-time winning streak! We will certainly be pushing you up the next time you play. We are excited to see how you meet the new challenge! Congratulations on one of the longest streaks in ICA history.

In Section 4 Artem, after not playing for a few events came back to win his section with an impressive 2.5 points out of 3. Although he had some wild games, he eventually came out on top in most of them! Peter managed to hold him to a draw, but it was not enough to keep him from taking down the title!

In Section 5 another long streak continued its run! Sophia with another perfect score extends her streak to 4! After toppling this section once again, we will be pushing you up in the coming weeks! We hope you are prepared for the new competition! Congratulations on your victory!

Section 6 was a hard-fought battle for first in which nobody left the section without scoring some points. In the end, Ankush and Alvin were the ones left standing in a tie for first. They both ended with 2 points out of 3 to complete their tournament. Well done to you both!

In Section 7 Chunyu, one of our newer but stronger players smashed the section with a perfect score. Impressively, Chunyu has won prizes in every event he is participated in! We will be pushing you up a section for some stiffer competition as well! Well done on your continued wins

In Section 8, Vishal took home his first win in an ICA event. This was his second time participating in a quad event and he is already taking down wins! Vishal impressively won the section with a perfect score. Congratulations!

Section 9 ended in a 3-way tie for first between Angie, Ari and Mark. Three players ended the competitive section with 2 out of 3 points. With this win Ari is now on a two-time winning streak!

In Section 10, Dhruva started rebuilding his winning streaks! After his last streak was ended, Dhruva went a few events without a win. It is good to see you back at the top with a two-time winning streak! Keep it going!

Section 11 ended in a tie for first between Everest and Surbhi! Both players ended the section with 2 points. When Everest and Surbhi played each other, Everest ended up with the win, but ultimately fell to Hovannes later in the event. Well done to both players!

In Section 12 one of our new players won the section with a perfect score! Hyland on his first time playing with us crushed his competition convincingly. We hope you enjoyed and to see you back again soon in future events!
