2022 ICA Super Saturday Quads June 25Th

ICA Super Saturday Quads – June 25 (By Chief TD Alessandro De Marchi-Blumstein)

Summer is upon us! Now that school is out, coming to ICA to play in our Saturday Quads is a perfect way to beat the heat and keep your mind active. This week, 29 kids sat down to play in seven sections.

ICA Super Saturday Quads – June 25

In the top section, Ekeoma and Albert split first place with 2/3 each. Albert, who came in as the lowest rated player in the section, managed a 400 point upset against Ekeoma in the last round to finish in the money. He gained almost 90 rating points for his efforts.

Section two also had a tie at the top. Onyedikachi (who happens to be Ekeoma’s brother) and Leon both got two points by winning one game and drawing two others and were rewarded for their steady play.

Section three was a Swiss tournament with five players. This was another tough fight with three players getting to two points. Raymond, Leah, and Arthur were the winners in this section, and they all played with so much focus that they were the last section to finish.

Liam and Christian tied for first in section four. As in all of the previous sections, nobody walked away from this tough competition without at least half a point.

In section five, Chideha, who is the sister of Ekeoma and Onyedikachi, managed the first perfect score in the tournament with convincing victories against each of her opponents. All three siblings were winners in their section this week. Good job, Osondu family!

Rachel got 3/3 in section six. Her toughest game was a long contest against frequent quads competitor Maxim.

Finally, in section seven, Peyton took down all of his opponents to win his first rated tournament. Second place finisher Aiden also played his first rated tournament, and his only loss was to Peyton. We hope our new players enjoyed their first tournament experience!

You can check out the rating report here.

We are off next week for the Fourth of July. We hope to see you soon in our camps, which are located in Glen Rock and Teaneck all summer, or our next tournament on July 9.
