October 8 2022, Glen Rock Quads Report

Today, we had 39 participants in the ICA Quads! They were split into 10 sections, with the top 3 being played at Game 45. Several players today showed that, even when down material, there are various ways to exploit the opponent`s position through tactics.

A player who epitomized this more than any other is Avyay Manoj, who won all three games in Section 4! Avyay found himself down a bishop in the final game after his opponent trapped it. However, Avyay was able to realize that his opponent`s position was open and could be exploited! As a result, he was able to use his knight and queen to eventually fork the opponent`s king and rook.

As a result, Avyay is today`s player of the tournament!

An honorable mention goes to Dante Guerriero, who showed great resilience to win Section 7 with 3/3 points! Similarly to Avyay, Dante also found himself down a piece in the middlegame. However, Dante immediately responded by forking his opponent’s king and rook to force a win!
