ICA at the 2023 National Chess Congress

The 2023 National Chess Congress is a tournament which the ICA family attends annually. Although many players won at least half their matches, we would like to highlight three players who had exceptional results!

The first player, Oleg Shevelenko, finished with 5/6 points in the U2200, winning four matches and drawing two. This result meant he tied for second place and left with a prize sum of $833.33!

The second player, Jane Stripunsky, also finished with 5/6 points: after drawing her first two matches, Jane won her next four to tie for first place in the U1600 section, meaning she won $1000!

Lastly, Jack Holder finished with - you guessed it! - 5/6 points! - with FIVE wins and one loss. As a result of tying for second place, Jack won $550!

But that's not all! Because Oleg and Jane teamed up for the Mixed Doubles Teams Competition, as a result of the team tying for first place, each player won $750!

This Sunday at 8pm, Oleg and Jack will be our featured guests on The ICA Show - you will not want to miss this episode!
