Welcome to the Do-Re-Mi School of Music and the Arts in Livingston! Through our collaborative partnership, ICA tournaments are held once every month, in addition to chess lessons on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
Each month, we alternate between Quads and Swiss format competitions.
The Livingston Quads is an open tournament in which players are divided by rating into groups of four, although competitors are occasionally split into sections of six to accommodate circumstantial issues. Division winners are awarded a $60 cash prize and Swiss section runners up earn $15!
Each player is guaranteed three games. Players rated under 1000 will play in G/30;d5 sections (30 minutes per person with a five second delay per turn), while players rated over 1000 will play in G/45;d5 sections (45 minutes per person with a five second delay). For new players, click HERE to learn how to get an official rating.
The entry fee is $30 per tournament and registration closes when the first 34 players sign up online. If registration does not hit 34 participants, on-site registration will be allowed at the discretion of the tournament director.
The first round starts at 10:00 AM exactly so 9:45 AM arrival is recommended. Further rounds are played immediately after individual sections are finished.
The Livingston Quads tournament is for people of all ages, backgrounds, and rating levels! Sets, scoresheets, clocks, and pencils are provided, so all you need to bring is yourself and an enthusiasm to play!
