Teaneck Summer Camp Week 7 Report

Historic Four-Way Tie in Chess Tournament Ends with Victor's Triumph

Each week, campers are divided into sections based on their skill levels for a chess tournament. This week, in Section 2, we experienced our first-ever four-way tie at camp. Victor, Eliyahu, Reece, and Michael each scored 2.5 out of 4 points, necessitating a four-way tiebreaker. The players competed in a blitz round-robin format, culminating in a final match between Victor and Eliyahu. After a tense 10 minutes, Victor emerged victorious, winning the closest tournament of the summer.

First-Ever Coaches vs. Campers Dodgeball Match Ends in Camper Victory

This week in Teaneck, we had our first-ever coaches vs. campers dodgeball match of the summer! Coaches Isaac, Seth, Jacob, Adam, and Slava faced an overwhelming number of campers. Initially, it seemed the coaches would dominate, as several campers were eliminated without any coaches getting out. However, the tides turned as the game progressed, with the coaches gradually being eliminated. In a final showdown between Coach Seth and campers Max and Bowen, Max delivered the decisive blow, securing a victory for the campers!

A Special Chess Variant Tournament Delights Campers

This week, we hosted a special tournament, deviating from the usual mind games to introduce a chess variant tournament. Campers participated in a variety of unique chess games, including losers chess, atomic chess, and duck chess. The campers thoroughly enjoyed the new experience, and it was a joy to watch them develop strategies for these exciting variants.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this week of camp, and to those who read this report! I look forward to seeing what stories emerge from the next week of camp.
