FALL Prealgebra 1 (IN PERSON)

Pre-algebra prepares students for the rigors of algebra while teaching problem-solving techniques to prepare them for prestigious middle school math contests and real life scenarios.

This course is taught in 3 semesters. It begins in September with advanced Number Theory problems. These concepts overlap through the Winter Semester and are followed by advanced manipulations with fractions and decimals. The program concludes in the Spring Semester with algebraic equations and inequalities and further development of advanced problem-solving skills.

Despite its formal structure, this class emphasizes creative thinking versus rote learning. The students are encouraged to generate original thought and solve challenging problems in addition to the standard ones. The students become scholars in their own right who never cease to be challenged and delighted by a demanding and enriching curriculum.

Completion of homework is encouraged and verified weekly in class.
