The International Chess Academy had the privilege of 96 year old Life Master Eugene Salomon delivering an insightful, fascinating lecture live in Teaneck on Sunday, October 27th!
Reflecting on the powerful narratives described in his autobiography “Sweet Memories,” LM Salomon spoke about the significant events he endured throughout his life and the lessons he learned from them, including his experiences with the Spanish Civil War, World War 2, and the Cuban Revolution.
He also discussed his games against the fourth world Chess Champion Alexander Alekhine, GM Gabriel Sargissian, and Stephen Pozarek, analyzing critical positions and sharing his expertise with everyone in attendance. Afterwards LM Salomon autographed copies of his book for fans in the audience.
He even stayed to view the opening rounds of the post-lecture blitz tournament, watching as players put into action the strategies he had just taught beforehand. Congratulations to National Masters Chris Welcome and Igor Yeliseyev for winning first place!
