96 year-old LM Eugene Salomon lectured live in Teaneck this past Sunday!
As promised, LM Salomon, author of his autobiographical book “Sweet Memories”, spoke about his life during events such as the Spanish Civil War, World War 2, the Cuban Revolution, and of course his game against the fourth world champion Alexander Alekhine.
LM Salomon discussed the critical position from that game, which everyone attending the lecture analyzed with him. Additionally, they examined a couple of other well-known positions from Salomon's games, including those against GM Sargissian and Stephen Pozarek.
Afterwards, LM Salomon autographed copies of his book for the attendees, chatted with National Masters and ICA coaches Chris Welcome, and Igor Yeliseyev, both of whom were in attendance, and also viewed some of the action in the opening rounds of the blitz tournament after the event.
Coincidentally, NMs Welcome and Yeliseyev shared first place in the higher section of the post-lecture blitz (comprised entirely of ICA coaches)!
Check out some of the pictures and videos on our facebook page!
We also have a couple of LM Salomon’s autographed books for sale in Teaneck, so email us if you’d like to grab a copy.
Thank you to everyone who attended LM Salomon’s lecture this week - the event was definitely a worthy way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
