2025 Scholastic Summer Camps

Join us for an amazing summer at the 2025 International Chess Academy (ICA) Scholastic Summer Day Camp!

Our Summer Camp program offers kids ages 6-16 the opportunity to grow intellectually within a collaborative and fun environment at our Glen Rock and Teaneck locations in New Jersey. With a 6:1 ratio of campers to counselors designed to maximize personal attention, students are well engaged in classes, learning chess tactics and enhancing their critical thinking skills!

Campers are assigned to an experienced coach for morning lessons where they analyze games, discover new strategies and solve puzzles with friends. These small groups are determined by skill level and age so campers can learn in a social and educational environment best-suited for them. Students of all chess abilities, from beginner to advanced, are encouraged and welcome!

Campers have outdoor fun and exercise every day, warming up in the morning with a camp classic dodgeball parody "Circle of Doom" and playing dodgeball, soccer, or on the playground before lunch.

Lunchtime at ICA is replete with great food and conversations, followed by the daily tournament. Parents are responsible for their children’s food for lunch. Campers apply strategies taught in class and compete against each other for weekly awards. Tournament games are then analyzed during morning lessons so students can improve by learning from their mistakes.

After the tournament, campers often have the opportunity to play against their coaches in simul exhibitions (one coach takes on any and all challengers). Additionally, they can also solve chess puzzles, ranging in different levels of difficulty, to test and enhance their thinking skills. On Fridays, campers are paired up for the weekly bughouse tournament (a special chess variant that incorporates teamwork and new rules into the traditional game)!

After a long day of chess and sports, campers who stay from 3:00p to 5:00p are offered a variety of other creative and educational activities in the afternoon, including art, music, mind-games, and math!

Sign up your child for ICA Summer Camp 2025 and prepare for an exciting summer of chess, sports, friends and fun!
