The summer has passed, and this year's winter camp was packed with fun and excitement!
During a few days of this week, the campers were able to experience something extraordinary - lots of snow! Despite it being very cold, they were still able to go outside before lunch and play dodgeball. It was a great way to relax and take a break from chess. This also included a day where Asher and Julianna built a snowman on the playground!
After lunch, campers always look forward to their afternoon chess tournament. They use what they learn from morning lessons to apply it to their games. Instead of the usual format of playing one long tournament game per day, the campers played 3 games that were shorter. This allowed them to play more people everyday, as well as getting used to shorter time controls.
After a long day of chess, campers enjoy doing other various activities including mind games, math olympiad, and art! Coach Paul brought in many art activities like clay, painting, robot markers, and more! Coach Jonathan and Gary brought in many mind games and puzzles like Rubik’s cubes, backgammon, quoridor, and more! Lastly, many students did math with Coach Eugene, and they particularly enjoyed solving the rigorous problems of using four numbers to make the number 24.
We had a fantastic week, and we wish everyone a happy New Year. We look forward to seeing what 2025 brings us!
