2012 ICA Summer Chess Camp Week Two Teaneck Report

2012 ICA Summer Chess Camp Week Two Teaneck Report

Week two only had eleven students but perhaps twice as much in terms of ton of fun.  In an ICA first the coaching staff organized a week long dance contest that pitted willing individual campers against each other in the disciplines of four famous dances.  After it was all played and the Lambada (Monday’s dance), Macarena (Tuesday’s dance), Fireworks (Wednesday’s dance), and Living La Vida Loca (Thursday’s dance) were performed by each competitor, Nick Belov was pronounced the winner despite a furious challenge from his brother Alex.  Though we didn’t have individual dance competitions on Friday, we did come up with a duets contests that allowed the kids to work together in making up their own dance.  In the end Dillon, and Kaylie Shelton were probably best though in truth since they had worked on a routine to the song “Double Dutch Bus” before they had a somewhat unfair advantage (nobody minded though).

As for the usual stuff we had tournaments in two sections with Emre Alptuna winning section one, and Lily Del Pilar taking the prize in section two.

The best students in each group were: Emre Alptuna in Slava’s group, Jaiden Shin in Frank’s group, and Kaylie Shelton in Ivette’s group.

The sports groups were won by Dillon Shelton in Ivette’s group, James Belov in Slava’s group, and Emre Alptuna in Frank’s group.

The dodgeball winner was James Belov, while Idan Glickman won the simul survival, and Ariel got the prize for healthiest lunch.
