ICA Dr. Ostfeld Memorial Winter Scholastic Championship!

There was a blizzard the day before but it did nothing to stop all the kids from enjoying another installment of our ICA Dr Ostfeld Memorial Championship.  More than one hundred kids turned out to enjoy pizza, donuts, trophies and everything else they usually do at our tournaments.   The following is a summary breakdown of the results in each section:

Section 1

With fourteen competitors in section one, Lily Goldfarb came away the sole, and undefeated winner defeating her brother Alex in the last round to claim first place. Alex Goldfarb came away in second winning his other three games.  Zoe Einhorn, and Eric Kuznetsov scored three points each and tied for third place with Zoe claiming the third place trophy on tie-breaks.

Section 2

There were two winners in section two as Mete Ehliz, and Daniel Lio both scored four points to share the top two trophies (Mete got the top one on tie-breaks).  Five people scored three points and shared third place with Lloyd-Sho Dennis-Akai being officially third, and Rohan Jha, Andrew Lio, Sohum Sharma, and Hans Sto Thomas joining him in official 4th-7th places, respectively.

Twenty-five students competed in section two.

Section 3

With forty-nine competitors, in what has traditionally become our biggest section, one of our newest students,  Jiahao Shen, was the official first place winner going undefeated with four points. Jake Bareket, and Aron Dyadyuk also went undefeated and tied for first but on tie-breaks finished in respective second, and third places.

Section 4

Avi Slavin won section four with a perfect score of four points.  Vedant Rautela, and Yuvanshu Agarwal tied for second, and third place with three-and-a-half points, as each drew one of their earlier games.  Twenty-eight people competed in section four.

Section 5

Out of twenty-one competitors it was Dhruv Patel who came out the winner with a score of three and a half points.  Having drawn his second round game against Lev Krasnovsky he won the other three to finish with three-and-a-half points.  Tomas Leonardo, Nicholas Cardenas, and Darshan Patel each tied for second place with three points, as Leonardo, and Cardenas drew two of their games while Patel lost his second round game against Gregory Volynsky.

Congratulations to the winners and see everyone in April.
