Lower Section Lio’s Win ICA family Competition;
Golden Goldfarbs Second; Patel Pair Third

In most cases regarding the ICA family competition it is much more common for families with members playing in higher rated sections to come out on top.  However as brothers Daniel, and Andrew, proved this does not always have to be the norm.  The Park Ridge based Lio brothers both played in section two, and while Andrew scored three points to finish a bit below first place his brother won all four games and took the gold medal (or first place trophy) all by himself.  The brothers will each be eligible for free participation in the next ICA Dr. Ostfeld Memorial (on April 21st), as well as a free Super Saturday Tournament at our location in Fair Lawn.

Speaking of Gold, Lily, and Alex Goldfarb, both participating in section one, did good enough to take second place overall in the ICA family competition.  Unfortunately, for the siblings since they had to play each other in the last round to determine a first place winner, Lily’s victory (she won all her games) meant Alex couldn’t get first and also couldn’t contribute another individual point to the family’s total.  Each sibling gets free entry into the April 21st Dr Ostfeld Memorial tournament.

Finally, to save face for the higher rated family sections, the Patel pair, of Dhruv, and Darshan combined to score six-and-a-half points in section five to finish family third overall.  Both get free entry into the next Dr Ostfeld Memorial on April 21st.

Thanks and see everyone next time.
