ICA Scholastic Chess Camp Teaneck Location Week 2 Report:
Camouflage Yourself Like A Wall?

Due to a very dreary weather forecast for the second week of our camp there were no relay races, or sports group but there was still a unique challenge that none of the kids managed to overcome.  The goal was to have the kids camouflage themselves as either our orange walls, our white tables, or our brown carpet, by wearing clothing that most closely resembled that environment.

Sadly none of the kids came through with this challenge but despite this we still managed to have plenty of fun.

Our winners in the regular tournament were Dillon in the first section (Idan made a great push beating Dillon in one of their two games, but in the last rounds fell just shy after missing a clear win against Alan Sourek that would trap Alan’s king and put him in Zugzwang, thereby making the game a draw, and losing the last round game against Vidur) and Lily Del Pilar (who won all her games) in the second section.  Since there were seven people in section two we gave Charlie, and Ben a trophy for second place since they tied.

In the study groups Dillon and Idan tied in Solomon’s group for best students, while Miya Shelton (only 4 years old and as adorable a child as one would expect) was best in Mila’s group, and Kaylie Shelton was the best in Slava’s group.

Alan Sourek won the two day blitz tournament, while in blitz/bughouse Idan’s “sky army” team of himself, Ben, and Kaylie won the day (Idan is head and shoulders the best team captain in ICA history).  His prowess also extended to the Dodge ball field as he won the award for best player there.

We also gave an award to Abi Pyatski for her best picture while the discipline award was given to Vidur, and the behavior award to Kento.

Hope to see everyone in week 3.
