2013 ICA Chess Camp Teaneck Week 4

2013 ICA Chess Camp Teaneck Week 4:
Picture Taking Competition

Our unique picture taking competition for the week gave the campers an opportunity to get behind the camera and take the funniest picture they can think of to impress the judges.  While there were many interesting entries the ultimate winner was Daniel Stern who instead of taking the traditional approach of photographing other kids, went inside the bathroom and photographed our toilet.  Good job Daniel!

Our standard tournament winners in four sections were: Eric Gerber in section four, Charlie Coward in section three (her first ever first place trophy!) Zachary Mankowitz in section two, and Idan Glickman in section one.

The winners for problem solving were Yuito Tashiro in the rated section, and Eric Gerber in the unrated section.

Sophie Rasol was the winner for the simul competition, while Idan Glickman was the winner in the regular one man blitz tournament.

Ben Pyatski got the prize for neatest notation (though there were still plenty of mistakes in his recording he did make the most effort).

For Blitz Bughouse Sophie’s team of “Idan is going down” (the team was Sophie, Lily, and Eric) did make good on their promise leaving Mr. Glickman in the dust.

The sports prizes were split as follows:

Grant, Sophie, and Mathew won for each of their respective individual sports groups.  Idan’s “Pretty Pink Unicorns X.0” (his teammates were Eric, Kento, and Mattis, and no I don’t remember which version of the Pretty Pink Unicorns this is) were the winners of the relay races.

Abi won the prize for best picture while in dodgeball Idan won the team event. In a move that brought back retro dodgeball duels (where individual campers face off one-on-one against each other in wild west shoot-outs) Mathew Fellini outgunned Idan in the finals to take home the dodgeball duels shoot-out event.
