September 21st 2013 Saturday Quads Results
Pasarkar, Xu Brothers, Pavlova  Win!

With twenty people unevenly divided into four sections our second school year Saturday quad was quite successful if going by the numbers.

In the Under 700 section six players competed for first and second places and in the end Malina Pavlova defeated Alex Luff, Tony Wang, and Jane Stripunsky to win the fifty dollar first place prize.  Suran Gao took twenty dollars for second place losing only to Jane Stripunsky in the first round, getting a bye for the second round and beating out Lily Del Pilar in the third round.

The Under 900 winner was one half of the dynamic Xu brother duo, Ethan, who defeated each of the other three competitors Anat Tsyrlin, Alexandra Wang, and Brian Hong to win the fifty dollars.

The Under 1200 winner was the other Xu brother, Ryan, who claimed his fifty dollars on the strength of wins over Nikhil Arayath, Justin Walker, and Mathew Lerman.  Nikhil, Mathew, and Zachary Shusterman all received ten dollars for splitting second place.  Alessandro De Marchi-Blumstein, and Athirda Arayath were the other two competitors in the section.

In the open, or Under 1600 section, both Phillip Blumin, and Nikita Popov resigned simultaneously in the final round thereby crowning the ultimate winner Amey Pasarkar instantly. Amey won all the games including his first against the fourth person in the section, and the second place finisher Samuel Berrettini.

We are eagerly awaiting masters, and grandmasters and players of all levels so please don’t be shy and stop by on any given Saturday.
