It took GM Gelashvili approximately ten minutes to force ten seconds off the clock of his opponent Alex Katz who relentlessly fought on despite the time trouble and conceded with one second on the clock and one or two moves short in a losing position.  GM Gelashvili showed great composure despite the pressure and surely deserved the three hundred dollar first place prize.  Ari Shusterman was second with three and a half points and won two hundred and fifty bucks for his effort.  The already mentioned Alex Katz, Jeremy Glassman, Glenn Cabasso, Kadhir Pillai, Kevin Chen, and Kevin Huang all scored three points and all received sixty-seven dollars as the prize for third place or best under 2200, and 2000. Michael Semel also scored three points and received seventy-five dollars for top results of a player over the age off fifty-five.

Aaron Shlionsky scored two and a half points and got seventy-five dollars for best results of a player under the age of thirteen.  

Peter Croce, and Gilad Drillich scored two points and both got fifty dollars each for best results of players under 1800.

Steven Feng, and Adam Branovan also scored two points each and received fifty bucks each as well for players rated under 1600.

Thirty five players competed in the open section.

Yehuda Koslowe claims U1600 Open Section Victory!

Open Under 1600 Section

Yehuda Koslowe won every single game and took first place as well as the hundred dollar first place prize.  Sid Wagh, Ryan Xu, and Zachary Lyandres scored three points each and received forty-two dollars tying for second through fourth place. 

Ravi Malik got his entry fee back in the form of twenty-five dollars for his best result of a player rated under 1200. 

Nineteen people participated in the U1600 section.
