Summer Camps 2014:
Three Levels of Camps-Grandmaster, Master, and Scholastic!
As the Summer season is quickly drawing near and many parents are trying to determine which camps, and which weeks they will dedicate their child’s time, and enthusiasm to, we at the International Chess Academy are putting in our candidacy for said role.
Over the course of the last few years we have gradually split our camp program from two levels (Grandmaster and Scholastic levels) into three levels to better accommodate the wide range of chess players seeking to improve their skill.
With reasonable prices, and a wide range of options, players of any level can find their own perfect niche.
Scholastic Camp
Our scholastic camps are offered throughout the Summer at both our Fair Lawn, and Teaneck locations.
The target groups for the scholastic camp are either unrated players, or those with a rating less than 1300. The age range for campers is anywhere from six to fourteen years of age.
The daily schedule for the camp starts with lessons in the morning from nine till eleven and continues with outdoor activity until twelve-thirty. After a half-hour lunch break it is time for tournament games from one until three o’clock after which those signed up for the half day program are picked up. A further option for working parents would be to sign up their kids till five o’clock for the full day program which allows them to pursue more chess study, as well as participate in Music (run by our own Howard “Super Mario” Fields: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IFcdbFTmdLo ), Math Program and Art Program.
There are prizes given out at the end of each camp week and range anywhere from trophies for best players in tournaments to rewards for best student, and best athlete in each study/or age group. To switch things up we also intersperse weird contests throughout random weeks to thus award even more prizes to those kids who are not eligible to win in our regularly scheduled categories. These random competitions may include Dance, Comedy, Mime Act, Movie Trivia, as well as other unique contests.
The flier for the scholastic camp can be picked up at either of our locations or can be viewed at the following link: http://www.icachesscamp.com/play_chess_camps/870/index.html
Master Camp
Our master camp is offered throughout the Summer, but only at our Fair Lawn location.
It is only available to players with a USCF rating of 1300 or higher.
The camp is run by Master Sergey Grabuzov (http://www.icanj.net/chess_class_in_nj/chess_academy_staff/70/index.html)

Grandmaster Camp
This is the highest level offered by the ICA and is reserved for players with a rating of no less than 1800 for group 2, or 2000 for group one.
It will run for only three weeks each Summer and will only be available in Fair Lawn.
The camp will be staffed by GM’s Alexander Chernin (he is also a Fide Senior Trainer), GM Alex Stripunsky, GM Tamaz Gelashvili, and GM Sergey Kudrin.
