2014 Week 8 Teaneck

ICA Teaneck Week 8: Glickman Ties Michael Phelps’ Olympic Record! Marbe Macarenas His Way To Dance Competition Title!

Remember that one time in 2008 when Olympian Michael Phelps Won eight gold medals?

Well our longtime camper Idan Glickman has done something much much cooler than that!

This summer Idan was signed up for eight weeks of chess camp at our scholastic locations and playing in section one (i.e. the hardest one with the highest ratings) each time he managed to win first place every single week.

While there were no flowers, gold medals, or the customary singing of the national anthem we are considering getting Idan a large trophy to honor his historic (in the context of our camp) achievement.

Congratulations Idan!

In other week eight news, for only the third, or fourth time, in the history of our camp we held a dance competition this week.  It was pretty close after the third round with a few people vying for the title but in the end Daniel Marbe pulled out all the stops and blew the judges away with his second round dance.  Tasked with performing a personally modified version of the Macarena Daniel channeled his inner spirituality and combined the dance with something out of Buddhism crossed with the Bangal’s “walk like an Egyptian.”

In other words you had to have been there to truly appreciate it!

Daniel now joins the elite club of Nick Belov, and little Anton from about 10 years ago who threw his hat at the ceiling for his big finish dance and whose last name I don’t remember, as the latest winner of the ICA’s dance event.

Last, but not least Zack Mankowitz scored 86% on the ICA trivia quiz to win for that event.

Check out the winners, pictures, and results and see everyone who is coming in week 9.
