2015 Dr Ostfeld Memorial Winter Scholastic Championships

Dr Ostfeld Memorial Winter Scholastic Championships

We had ninety nine players total at the past Dr Ostfeld memorial Championships competing over four sections.  The usual fifth section was rolled over into the u1600 because of a lack of participation.  We are grateful to everyone who participated.

Section one

Aatish Kandaswamy was the only player to win all four of his games to get first place in a field of twenty-nine players.  Jacob Landa only drew his last round game to finish second with three-and-a-half points while Berat Yigit, Ara Kazazian, Beril Yigit, Akiva Shlionsky, Andrew Goldfarb, Ari Reitman, and Felix Dyadyuk all scored three points each to tie for third place.

Section two

Yael Freydlin won three games, and drew one game to finish alone in first place in section two.  Four players tied for second through fifth place with three points and they were Rylan Contos, Eric Kuznetsov, Jason Ng, and Matthew Postoyanets.

Sixteen players competed in section two.

Section three

Playing for the first time in section three, the other Freydlin sibling CJ, also won first place by scoring wins in all four rounds.  Bryan Jiang also won all four games and shared the podium with CJ, while Michael Fondacaro, Ilya Asulin, Jane Stripunsky, Sachit Tumuluri, David Maydan, and Daniel Stern all scored three points out of four and tied for mutual third place.

Twenty-nine players competed in section three.
