Today was a day of preparation for our tournament participants. Today's matches merely served as practice for tomorrow's Dr. Ostfeld Memorial ICA Championship Event: a four round tournament with trophies (Sections 1-5) and large cash prizes (U1600-Open) at stake!
However, this did not stop our players from messing around during their matches (in an entirely legal manner! After winning his first two matches, Junior Coach Albert Abzalimov was on the verge of victory in the third match. Instead of immediately putting Kian to the sword, however, Albert promoted all of his remaining, but not to queens.
Rather, by the end of the game, Albert had FIVE KNIHGTS on the board! Despite other players such as myself preaching the importance of finishing the game early and respectfully, I can understand that players sometimes need an outlet to relax - especially before tomorrow's grueling event!
